Senators Billy Hickman and Clint Dixon recently held a press conference in Atlanta to discuss Senate Bill 464, also known as the “School Supplies for Teachers Act.” The bill aims to provide support to teachers by allocating funds for them to purchase school supplies online. Sen. Hickman highlighted the significance of the measure, stating, “This bill significantly contributes to supporting our teachers, parents, and students here in Georgia." He also introduced an amendment to the bill that focuses on enhancing the state’s literacy rate by requiring schools to use a universal reading screener. He commended Sen. Dixon for bringing the legislation forward and expressed his anticipation for its passage and subsequent signing by the Governor.
