City Crews Respond to Minor Sewage Spill in Savannah

Savannah city crews swiftly responded to a minor sewage spill that occurred on February 26 behind 139 Port Royal Dr. The spill, which resulted from an overflowing manhole on the force main, saw an estimated 950 gallons spill before the necessary repairs were made. State Environmental Protection Division guidelines have classified this incident as a minor spill, falling under the category of spills that involve less than 10,000 gallons.

In response to the spill, the City of Savannah has initiated the distribution of spill notifications through a combination of a news release and the placement of area signage. Additionally, all relevant agencies, including the Georgia Environmental Protection Division, Health Department, and the City of Savannah Office of Communications, have been promptly notified in accordance with state guidelines.
