2022: 73 coaches at institutions in Chatham County earned on average $34,010

Chatham County’s 73 coaches earned an average salary of $34,010 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the 16th lowest average salary per county earned by coaches at Georgia post-secondary schools during 2022.

Chatham County is home to two post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, Savannah State University stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $52,136.

Male coaches of men's teams received $36,876 on average in Chatham County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $34,502.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
